Fixer Upper!

Broken Subbuteo

The very first joblot I bought arrived with 3 broken screens, 2 screens missing completely and 8 broken players. Luckily my Mum has always been into arts and crafts and after bugging her enough she eventually fixed the screens and showed me how to fix the players. The screen fixing looks perfect every time now. There's nothing worse than a nice, rare, expensive team in a grubby box with a broken screen so learning to fix them was a must. Repairing broken players is a whole different kettle of fish. The level of 'break' depends on how good you can make them look. A clean snap is ideal but whilst bends and rips aren't ideal, they're not impossible to resolve. A craft knife, glue, acrylic paint and lots of patience are essential though.

Types of Fix

Broken Players

Snapped clean, bad original re-glue or just weak ankles, they all bug us. You buy a nice looking team and when they arrive one of two players aren't quite how they looked in the pictures. It takes a while but with a bit of care and attention you can eventually get them back to fitness! No breaks will ever be 'like new' but, with work, they can be as good as.

Faded Players

I hate this personally. I've bought a number of teams in the past and when I open the box the team that were once shining bright in a fresh white shirt, now look yellow. It takes around 48 hours in most cases but it's definitely possible to make them whiter again. And in some cases, good as new. This is also a great way to treat faded or dirty bases.

Damanged Box Screens

Admit it, broken screens bother you don't they? They do me. I learnt to fix them because once they're split, they're only going to get worse and the players end up falling out and or damaged. After many failed atempts to get the process right it's now a seemless perfect fix. The screens I implement are exactly like the originals and will transform a tired looking box.
